Uppsala Student Union has been entrusted by the Board of Uppsala University to manage a statutory and tax-funded mission: to monitor and participate in the development of education and the conditions for study. This mission requires the organization to conduct its activities in a purposeful, structured and efficient manner. All our work must be of high quality and characterized by skill and professionalism.

Responsibility
Uppsala Student Union has an important mission that needs to be carried out in a responsible manner. All elected representatives and employees have a responsibility for the organization, its activities and its long-term and sustainable development. Everyone who is part of solving a task takes responsibility for the result. Everyone is responsible for the good of the whole organization and not just their part of the organization. Developing their work and the organization as a whole should be a natural part of being engaged or employed at the union.

Uppsala Student Union's mission and organization are based on democracy and the equal value of people. Everyone is treated equally as human beings regardless of gender, transgender identity or expression, ethnicity, faith, disability, sexual orientation, age, language and socio-economic background. Differences and diversity of opinion are welcomed in our work.

Uppsala Student Union's legitimacy is based on the students we represent. We take students' opinions seriously. In the organization we are united in the conviction of all students' right to influence their education and a safe and good study time. Uppsala Student Union shall be characterized by solidarity between all members and students we represent. Our work should be characterized by transparency and it should be easy for students to follow and participate in the organization's work and decision-making processes, hence Uppsala Student Union should always strive to apply a democratic work process.

What has Uppsala Student Union done for me?

Uppsala Student Union is Sweden's oldest student union and has been engaged in student influence since 1849. It is thanks to Uppsala Student Union that students have the opportunity to influence their education and study time, something that is completely lacking at most universities around the world. It was the union that fought for exams to be anonymized, that the university could not force students to have the webcam on during the pandemic, that we have breaks during lectures and that our courses have clear content and a syllabus. This hasn't always been the case, but was added following demands from students who joined forces.

Uppsala Student Union is always spelled with a capital U and a small s.

As far as possible, use the full name, or alternatively "the union".

English translation is "Uppsala Student Union".

Our office & reception is called Kårhuset and the address is spelled with a capital "Övre Slottsgatan 7, Uppsala"
