Professionalism
Uppsala Student Union has been entrusted by Uppsala University's Board of Governors to manage a statutory and tax-funded mission to monitor and contribute to the development of education and the conditions for study. This mission requires that the organisation conducts its activities in a purposeful, structured and efficient manner. All our work must be of high quality and characterised by skill and professionalism.

Responsibility
Uppsala Student Union has an important mission that needs to be carried out responsibly. All elected representatives and employees have a responsibility for the organisation, its activities and its long-term and sustainable development. Everyone who is part of solving a task takes responsibility for the outcome. Everyone is responsible for the good of the whole organisation and not just their part of it. Developing one's work and the organisation as a whole should be a natural part of being involved or employed at the union.

Equality
Uppsala Student Union's mission and organisation is based on democracy and the equal value of human beings. Everyone is treated equally as a human being regardless of gender, transgender identity or expression, ethnicity, belief system, disability, sexual orientation, age, language and socio-economic background. Differences and diversity of opinion are welcomed in our work.

Influence
Uppsala Student Union's legitimacy is based on the students we represent. We take students' opinions seriously. We are united in our belief in the right of all students to influence their education and to have a safe and enjoyable time at university. Uppsala Student Union will be imbued with solidarity between all the members and students we represent. Our work shall be transparent and it shall be easy for students to follow and participate in the work and decision-making processes of the organisation, hence Uppsala Student Union shall always strive to apply a democratic working process.

Refers to all students studying at Uppsala University. This includes recentiers, international students, distance learners, students with special needs (e.g. parents, dyslexics, disabled, etc.)

A common goal for all target groups is a better understanding of the Union's activities. We want to inform that students have the power to influence their education. They should feel that they can contact us for help with student issues and that we are professional and reliable. We want them to get involved in student politics and become members of the union.

Without members, there is no student union and without the student union, students lose important influence. What has Uppsala Student Union done for me?

Uppsala Student Union is Sweden's oldest union for students and has been involved in student influence since 1849. It is thanks to Uppsala Student Union that students have the opportunity to influence their education and study time, something that is completely lacking in most universities around the world. It is the union that fought for exams to be anonymous, for the university not to force students to have the webcam on during the pandemic, for us to have breaks during lectures and for our courses to have clear content and a syllabus. This has not always existed but was added following demands from students who joined forces.

Uppsala Student Union is always spelled with a capital U and a small s.

As far as possible, use the full name, or alternatively "the union".

Do not use "student union".

English translation is "Uppsala Student Union".

Our office & reception is called Kårhuset and the address is spelled with a capital "Övre Slottsgatan 7, Uppsala"

To write policy documents, reports and referrals, we use predefined templates on Google Workspace. Body text is in EB Garamond font and titles are a mixture of EB Garamond and Proxima Nova.
