The Literati

Student association at the Department of Comparative Literature and Rhetoric at Uppsala University.

Litteraterna was founded in 2005 with the aim of providing educational and social activities for students at the Department of Literature and Rhetoric. Litteraterna organizes several events that contribute to cohesion between students at the department and enable deeper knowledge in literary studies and rhetoric, with a lively book circle, debate evenings and fun quizzes as examples.

Litteraterna also regularly organizes pub evenings where new and old students can socialize with each other and share their experiences of studying at the department. In addition, Litteraterna organizes several other activities such as cube tournaments, author talks, theater visits and not least our semesterly gasques. Almost all activities are free of charge and open even to those who are not members but are still interested in the events, so do not hesitate to bring friends from other institutions. The Association thus provides a diverse and engaging range of activities for its members and contributes to a sense of belonging among the students of the institution.

In the fall of 2018, Litteraterna founded the journal Roten. Roten accepts contributions in a wide range of genres and topics and encourages discussion and debate between students. Roten has an editorial board consisting of members of the association and sometimes seeks new editors to contribute to future issues. The magazine has received awards from the Convention for "Best Magazine", "Best Layout", "Best Illustrator", "Best Reportage" and "Best Photography".
