Uppsala Medievetare is a non-profit student association founded in the autumn of 2011. The association is open to all students with an interest in media, communication and journalism. The purpose of the association is to further develop, complement and arouse interest in the media and communication studies education at Uppsala University. An important part of our work is to contribute to an increased business contact among the education students. We therefore work to arrange exciting guest lectures and company visits. We carry out student social activities, such as retreats at the start of the semester and dinners during the semesters. We believe that this is a good way to foster contact and fellowship between students at different levels of the MKV programme. Last, but not least, we advocate for students on education-related issues and work towards a good student social environment in the Department of Computer Science and Media.
