Full job description

Uppsala Student Union is looking for a new member of staff for the position of Student and Doctoral Student Representative. The position is 100 percent and employment is until further notice.

Uppsala Student Union is an organization founded in 1849 and works with student influence in educational issues at Uppsala University. We also work with influence in other student political contexts where it affects students' conditions for studies. Uppsala Student Union is a politically governed and democratically structured organization. The Student Union has an office with ten employees.

About the service

The main task of the Student and Doctoral Student Representative is to be a neutral and independent body between the student or doctoral student and Uppsala University. The Student and Doctoral Student Representative also works with sustainable engagement within the union.

The work includes the following:

  • handle cases received from students and doctoral candidates
  • provide support and advice in the study situation of students and doctoral candidates
  • participate in meetings with the student/doctoral student and university staff or represent the student/doctoral student towards Uppsala University
  • outreach work to inform about the ombudsman service
  • be the contact person for elected representatives at section level within Uppsala Student Union
  • be the contact person for discrimination, sexual harassment and victimization for elected representatives in Uppsala Student Union
  • participate in and develop networks with other agents and actors at Uppsala University

Qualification requirements:

  • Relevant higher education or in the process of finishing your education
  • Good knowledge of Swedish and English in both speech and writing

Great importance will be attached to personal suitability such as:

  • you have a very good ability to independently prioritize between your tasks and be responsible for their completion
  • you are used to meeting people who need support and have the ability to mediate between different parties in conflicts
  • you have the ability to network, build good relationships and interact with different stakeholders

Desirable/meritorious:

  • Experience in supportive or guiding conversations
  • Working in the non-profit sector
  • Good knowledge of Uppsala University

Interviews and appointments may be made on a rolling basis.
