Vice standard driver
The student unions at the University use standards and are part of the banner at University academic ceremonies. A standard bearer represents both their corps and the student community at large and thus constitutes a symbolically important element in the various academic ceremonies. The standard bearers are organized together with the flag bearers in the Flag Bearer Convention. At the convention meetings, which take place approximately 3-4 times per semester, information is provided on upcoming assignments and other issues affecting standard bearers. In essence, standard bearers participate in the same ceremonies as the marshals.
Recurring ceremonies include doctoral promotions, professor installations, recentior receptions and Gustav II Adolf celebrations. On-duty standard bearers always appear in academic ceremonial dress. Before taking up the role of standard bearer, one should be aware that the standard is very heavy and one is expected to carry it for long distances at times.
Academic ceremonial dress means the following:
Coat: Black coat. Black tailcoat waistcoat (low cut, not suit waistcoat). White dress shirt with discreet breast and cuff buttons . White bow tie ('bow tie') . White thin gloves (wrist-length) Black socks Black well-polished low shoes (must not be rough or casual, patent leather shoes are acceptable).
Dress: Black long dress of simple and sober model, without décolletage and without slits. If the dress does not have sleeves or shoulder straps at least 5 cm wide, the shoulders should be covered with a black bolero or equivalent. White thin long gloves (elbow-length). Black socks. Black shoes with covered toe and heel (not too high and narrow heel).
