The Institutional Board is the collegially elected decision-making body. It is here that all important decisions are taken at the institution. Examples of common/recurring issues: decisions on the start of recruitment, decisions on course syllabi and literature lists, decisions on the department's budget and business plan. The meeting time is estimated to be a maximum of three hours, plus 1-2 hours of preparation time.

The Quality Committee for Undergraduate and Graduate Education (KUGA) is an advisory and preparatory body on overall issues relating to the quality, content and organization of undergraduate and graduate education. KUGA shall prepare issues on behalf of the Faculty Board and also monitor and initiate strategic development.

Within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Faculty Boards are the decision-making bodies of the faculties. The majority of the members of the Faculty Board are academic staff and four student representatives. The chair of the Faculty Board is called the Dean. The meeting time is estimated at 3 hours per meeting, in addition you are expected to read documents and, if possible, participate in pre-meetings (about 30 min) on Zoom organized for the student representatives. In addition, an overnight stay is organized at most once a year.

The Programme Council is responsible for monitoring the integrity and content of the institution's programme. This implies responsibility for ensuring that the content of the programme meets the curriculum of the programme in a balanced way, including responsibility for programme development, renewal and coordination.

The Board of Basic Education (GUN) is responsible for monitoring and preparing matters related to the scientific content of undergraduate education, such as syllabi, study plans and course literature, which to be decided by the Department Board, and is responsible for the evaluation of the activities.

The Department's committee for equal treatment and opportunities (Equality Committee) discusses questions regarding equal opportunities, plans and undertakes measures, arranges seminars for employees, and informs students about its work on these questions. The Equality Committee is composed of the Department's Equality Officer, the Head of Department, and representatives of the Department's four corporations: teachers/researchers, technical/administrative staff, PhD students, and graduate/undergraduate students. The committee welcomes proposals and ideas for its continued work.
