Student Representation

Student representation exists to ensure that students have a say in their own education. Student representatives represent the views of students wherever decisions are taken or prepared at the university that affect their education or situation.

As a student representative, you will receive ongoing training and information from the union on how best to carry out your role, and you will have the opportunity to push issues and bring about change. The training is tailored to the needs and wishes of the student representatives. In addition, you will receive support from the other student representatives in the Student Representative Council, from the union's paid and employed staff, and from the university.

What do you get as a student representative? An opportunity to have a real impact, a good merit on your CV, a chance to make contacts both within the university, the union and with other students, learn more about how the university works and of course remuneration for many assignments.

Program Council for the Language Studies Program

Faculty of Linguistics

The Program Council usually meets once or twice a semester to discuss issues related to the related to the Linguists program. Currently, the program has only one common program-specific semester and thereafter students choose courses freely. The program students currently take all courses together with other students. To the program council are invited the teachers of the program-specific semester, teachers of two elective courses that are later the program, and the study counsellors from the four departments of the departments, sometimes also the directors of studies of the faculty's departments. Program meeting for the psychology program

As a student representative in the program meeting you represent their semester. Right now we are looking for students from semesters: 1,3,4,5,6,7, 9 and 10. The program coordinator leads the meeting and other participants from the department may vary (e.g. director of studies, study counselor and/or course administrator). The purpose of the program meeting is to exchange information and present current views and questions regarding the psychology program. The meeting usually takes place one to three times per semester and we would like to have two student representatives from each semester.

The Board for Teacher Excellence at the Faculty of Languages

Faculty of Linguistics

The Faculty of Linguistics' Teaching Excellence Committee prepares the case and issues an opinion. The Faculty of Languages' Committee for Teacher Excellence is appointed by the Faculty Board at the beginning of each term of office. The group consists of the dean or vice-dean (chair), two teacher representatives, at least one of whom is an excellent teacher, and one student representative. Unless it is clearly unnecessary, the assessment of merits shall be supplemented by an interview. The Board may further decide that the assessment of the merits shall be supplemented by a pedagogical test. The Board shall issue an opinion, which shall include a judgment on the pedagogical test if one has been conducted.
