Student Representation

Student representation exists to ensure that students have a say in their own education. Student representatives represent the views of students wherever decisions are taken or prepared at the university that affect their education or situation.

As a student representative, you will receive ongoing training and information from the union on how best to carry out your role, and you will have the opportunity to push issues and bring about change. The training is tailored to the needs and wishes of the student representatives. In addition, you will receive support from the other student representatives in the Student Representative Council, from the union's paid and employed staff, and from the university.

What do you get as a student representative? An opportunity to have a real impact, a good merit on your CV, a chance to make contacts both within the university, the union and with other students, learn more about how the university works and of course remuneration for many assignments.

Undergraduate Council at the Department of Archaeology and Ancient History

The Council consists of 1-2 student representatives from each year, subject and campus of the undergraduate program, as well as the Director of Studies and Head of Department. The council is an important channel for students to air their views and make suggestions about the program and teaching. The meeting is based on the course evaluations and discusses what the students perceived as good and less good on the various courses. Other student views can also be discussed, large and small. A meeting takes about 2 hours and in preparation you are expected to go through the course evaluations and capture comments from students. We are now looking for student representatives from the courses: Foundation Year for the Bachelor's Program in Archaeology and Ancient History, Archaeology A-B, Archaeology C, Egyptology A-B, Egyptology C-D, Ancient Culture and Society A-B and C at Campus Engelska Parken

Consultation for advanced level at the Department of Theology

At the Department of Theology there is a consultation for programs at advanced level. The consultation applies to all master's programs with associated program colleges. The consultation shall meet at least twice a year, in connection with course syllabus work and service planning. Minutes shall be taken at the consultation meetings. The minutes shall be distributed to all members of the Council. The Council shall work on knowledge exchange and forms of cooperation between the various Master's programs. The cooperation can concern: courses and course modules, teaching resources, internships, internationalization and educational development.

The subject college's tasks include preparing the subject's general study plan for decision by the Faculty Board, submitting proposals for independent courses to the consultation on course offerings, submitting proposals for syllabi for independent courses to the Faculty Board, ensuring that course evaluations are carried out and followed up for the courses for which the college is responsible, and being responsible for developing syllabi, implementation and evaluation of independent courses that belong to the subject.

Consultation for course offerings at the Department of Theology

At the Department of Theology, there is a consultation for the overall course offering that prepares questions about the course offering within the undergraduate program. The consultation consists of the six chairs of the subject colleges, chairs of program councils for bachelor's programs, chairs of program colleges for master's programs, head of department, directors of studies for undergraduate education, study counselors and student representatives. The council shall be responsible for annually reviewing the overall course offerings within the undergraduate education for both undergraduate and graduate programs as well as for free-standing courses, and if necessary propose changes to the head of department.
