The Socionomy programme in Uppsala started in 2007, the following year the Socionomy Students' Association was founded. Then under the name Socionomy Students at Uppsala University, SVUU.

Since spring 2017, the name of the programme association is Socionomus. The association exists to pursue issues that affect us social work students at Uppsala University. Partly by driving oppinion for our issues, and to support students' interests towards the university. But Socionomus also organises a lot of social activities.
