Uppsala Student Union elections

Here you will find all the information you need to vote in the student union election. We have gathered details about the process and important dates to make it as easy as possible!

How does the election work?

All members of Uppsala Student Union vote in the union elections. Voting is conducted digitally, and voters can cast their ballots from their own computers or mobile phones, eliminating the need to visit a polling station. Those who need to can use a computer at the student union building to vote.

All eligible voters will receive an email with a link to the ballot on the day voting opens. In the 2026 student union elections, voting will be open between April 7 and 21. Voters will be given the opportunity to confirm their choice before voting closes. Once eligible voters have confirmed their choice, their vote will be registered in a database managed by the election committee. The election committee can check who has voted without compromising the secrecy of the vote.

After the election closes on April 21, the results will be compiled and published on the Uppsala Student Union's social media channels.

Vote for a student union party

Everyone who is eligible to vote will receive an email with a link to the vote on the same day that voting opens.

Vote for a person

It is also possible to choose to cast a blank vote or to select a list of candidates but refrain from making a personal choice.

What should I do if I haven't received my voting link yet?
The voting system does not send out a link to all members at once, but spreads it out over the course of the day. Wait 24 hours, and if your link still hasn't arrived, contact the election committee.
Do I have to be a member of Uppsala Student Union vote?
Yes, you must be a member of Uppsala Student Union March 31 to be eligible to vote.
How can I find out what the parties stand for?
Information about each party will be posted on this website by March 20 at the latest. You can also find several of the parties at book tables on various campuses during the election campaign. At the election debate, you will also have the opportunity to hear more about what each party stands for. In addition, the union many of the parties post information on their social media accounts.
Can I run for student council as a private individual?
Yes, you must either join an existing party or form your own party before the student union elections. During the 2025/2026 term, the following parties will sit on the student union council: Left-wing Students, S-students, Green Students, Uppsala University Students, Checklistan, and the Right-wing Party.
