Before this year's student union elections, Left Students Uppsala has sought input, knowledge, and advice from other student unions to get a real insight into what Uppsala's students and universities need, and how we can work through Uppsala Student Union for a change and an improvement of the study experience.
We are going to the student union elections on two important main issues where we can make concrete change - A cheaper Uppsala and A greener Uppsala. We want to start a new negotiation for cheaper campus café prices and open up campus restaurants for students to sit. In addition, we want the university to plant meadows on unused land and reintroduce a climate plan for the university for net zero by 2030.
We will also not forget the Palestinian issue, but continue to pursue it and draw attention to the struggle that is still happening. Finally, we want to strengthen student union democracy through, for example, reforms of the organization and increased transparency, all to make the student union accessible and the opportunity to get involved for more people.
Vote for Green Students for a continued green union!
Since the last election, we have achieved a lot. the union has not been this active for a long time. We have made sure that the work on the climate plan gets a student representative, doubled the union's members and not least: We solved the first female president in ten years. All thanks to the Greens!
Let's look ahead. Green students want to give you a bike package: we will solve a bike toolbox, work to introduce a bike pool if your bike is stolen, student discount on bike repair shops, bike pumps... Yes, you get it. A bike-friendly union.
We care not only about your bike, but also your studies. Students should get ten hours a week with their teachers. This is because students learn more when they meet their teachers, and education becomes more qualitative. Students take several hundred thousand in loans to educate themselves from textbooks. This should not be the case!
GS also believes that students should be able to afford to fuck up. This means that it should be easier to supplement after illness, easier when you need to rewrite exams, A-kassa if you do not receive CSN, and the right to sickness benefits during sick leave.
A union is more than just an organization - it is a voice, a force and a community that works to improve our student life.
We in S-studenter want the union to work to make student life better - the fairest spring of youth.
We believe that the union should fight to give all students cheaper housing and housing guarantee, so that everyone has the opportunity to educate themselves. We want the union to work to abolish the profit interest of Akademiska Hus, so that our study time is characterized by development instead of savings. We also want the union to push for the university to establish clearer guidelines for feedback, so that all students receive concrete feedback on their exams.
We should not be satisfied with being a union that just exists - we should be a union that makes a difference. A union where we lift each other up, where we are united and relevant. That is how we create change. That is how we become stronger.
We will not fight each other - we will fight for what we believe in, we believe in this the union!
Together we make our study time, our Uppsala and our youth better!
Uppsala University Students (UUS) is the student union party without party politics.
For 61 years we have been the Uppsala student's stable voice against party political bickering. Since we were founded, we have in various ways been on the board of the union and fought for the obvious student voice. Competence, decentralization and more direct student influence.
This year we are campaigning to continue to abolish party politics as a unanimous rule in the union. We believe that students deserve direct subject representatives in the Council. This does not mean that the union should stop discussing political issues, but ideology should never get in the way of student benefit. That's why we also want to ban double hats among the Union's elected representatives so that we can actually have confidence.
We will never let go of teacher-led time and decent work placements. But this year we need to address a problem that has been swept under the carpet for too long. Our international students are currently neither included nor represented by the union . They have unique problems, rich experiences and a drive that the union is simply not capturing at the moment. Bilingual documents and special support for international student representatives are the start of including everyone in the union.
Finally, we want to work more on the Union's core purpose: student advocacy. Enthusiasm is what currently allows us to even have student monitoring, and that is not sustainable. We want to see a university that actively asks students what they think. We also want all students to know their rights (yes, we have rights) and know exactly where to go if they are not met. It is simply too difficult to influence the quality of their education at the moment.
A vote for UUS is a vote for the Uppsala student.
Right-wing students are the voice for a healthy and normal student union policy. The broad left's power over the union has primarily resulted in a destructive woke culture, fervor for anti-western politics and an expanded complicated, expensive and cumbersome bureaucracy that does not benefit students. Rather the opposite.
We go to the election under the slogan #deträckernu, because it may actually be enough now. Uppsalastudentkår should definitely not be a woke union whose main goal is to influence coffee prices at a café, but an advocacy body with great ambitions to really make a difference in important issues for students. The union needs a straight right that gathers and shows the way for what young students actually want - not an outdated socialist, false utopia.
We promise, among other things, to follow the following priorities:
- That Uppsala Student Union will act more in line with student issues that affect your situation as a student for real, not act as an ideological megaphone against private businesses on campus.
- That Uppsala Student Union will seek more collaborations with the business community, and create better conditions with contact areas for students in working life.
- To make Uppsala Student Union Sweden's first anti-woke-certified student union.
- That Uppsala Student Union will take the fight against the oikophobia that prevails at the university.
- That Uppsala Student Union will lobby for more student apartments to be built, for example through a permanent committee that strategically oversees the advocacy work.
- Uppsala Student Union will work for the abolition of the free allowance nationally and become the country's leading voice in that work.
- That Uppsala Student Union will work for the fall semester to end before Christmas. The lost teaching time should be compensated by starting the fall semester earlier.
We are not on the right. We are not left. We are students.
We want to change 10 things:
- Exams on weekdays, not weekends.
- Free sanitary pads on campus.
- Physical diplomas.
- Campus cleaning on weekends.
- Increase transparency in the union.
- Give more money to associations.
- More seats to sit on.
- Facilitate the handling of NPF certificates.
- Open the exam halls at Ekonomikum.
- Clearer scholarship process.
