Student representation and monitoring
One of HumSek's main tasks is to ensure that the voices of humanities students are heard in the various bodies of the university. We work to achieve this by appointing students to decision-making or preparatory bodies within the three faculties. You can read more about vacant student representative positions here!
Student monitoring is one of the most important tasks of the Student Union. As the name suggests, it is about monitoring studies, more specifically ensuring that the students' situation at the university is acceptable. At Uppsala Student Union , there is a faculty coordinator who works full-time with student influence and advocacy towards the university.
The faculty coordinator is tasked with checking that education within the section's area of activity is of good quality and that the university complies with the rules and guidelines that exist. You can, for example, turn to the faculty coordinator in matters relating to student influence and the quality of your education.
Union Associations
HumSek also works to promote the involvement of those Union Associations who are active in the section's area. Associations are central to the section's activities and much of the section's work is done in collaboration with them. Most associations are linked to a program or a department and offer a wide range of activities. Information about HumSek Union Associations can be found below.
Section Council
The Section Council is the highest decision-making body of the Humanities Section. The members of the Council consist of representatives from the section's associations, who are also students from the section's three faculties. Their task is to move the section's activities forward, decide on activities and finances, appoint student representatives and strengthen HumSek's student associations. This is done through regular meetings, section-wide events and by awarding project grants to associations. You can find all section council minutes here!
The section councils are open to all members of Uppsala Student Union and you can find the dates in the Uppsala Student Union calendar.
