The department board is the highest decision-making body at the department and is responsible for the most important overall decisions. Among other things, it decides on the budget, financial statements, and how activities are to be planned. The board also makes decisions on how teaching and examinations are to be conducted and approves and updates course syllabi. In addition, the board deals with issues that the head of department later decides on, as well as matters that are forwarded to the faculty board after the department has submitted its proposals. These may concern how activities are to be organized, what measures are needed after reviews and evaluations, and when and how the recruitment of new teachers is to begin. The scope of the assignment is estimated at 1-2 hours of preparation per meeting, plus a 1.5-hour meeting.
