Student Representation

Student representation exists to ensure that students have a say in their own education. Student representatives represent the views of students wherever decisions are taken or prepared at the university that affect their education or situation.

As a student representative, you will receive ongoing training and information from the union on how best to carry out your role, and you will have the opportunity to push issues and bring about change. The training is tailored to the needs and wishes of the student representatives. In addition, you will receive support from the other student representatives in the Student Representative Council, from the union's paid and employed staff, and from the university.

What do you get as a student representative? An opportunity to have a real impact, a good merit on your CV, a chance to make contacts both within the university, the union and with other students, learn more about how the university works and of course remuneration for many assignments.

The GAGA group at the Department of Nutritional Sciences
Department of Food Science

Faculty of Social Sciences

GAGA is a group responsible for undergraduate and graduate education. The group is led by the Director of Studies for the first and second cycle, who is also the convener. The other members are the program coordinator, the home and consumer studies coordinator (if there is one), the pedagogical coordinator (if there is one), two teacher representatives (for first and second cycle) and two student representatives (one for each program). The group prepares issues regarding programs and courses that are then decided by the faculty board and the department board. The group also deals with issues such as the possibility of co-teaching and collaboration between different programs and courses. Various pedagogical issues, as well as needs for competence development, can be initiated by the group. Furthermore, progression, forms of examination, course literature, subject didactics as well as the quality and content of the education are other examples of issues that the group will work on together. The intention is for the group to have an overview of the department's various courses and programs and thus be able to work together on various aspects of quality and pedagogy. Study social issues and other matters concerning education at undergraduate and graduate level can also be dealt with in the group, e.g. whether teaching work should be organized in teaching teams. A student from the dietary science program is requested.
