If you want to get involved
Being involved in Uppsala Student Union gives you the opportunity to have a say in your education, while gaining valuable experience to add to your CV. There are many ways to get involved - you can get involved high or low, a lot or a little!
The Section Council is the highest decision-making body of the Social Sciences Section. Council members are appointed by election by the Section Union Associations. The Section Council is chaired by the Executive Committee of the Section. The main task of the Section Council is to work on student representation, mainly by appointing student representatives at departmental and faculty level, thus ensuring that student perspectives are taken into account in important decisions affecting the students' study situation.
The Section Council also works to strengthen the union associations in their activities, to coordinate any joint efforts and to promote the exchange of experience and knowledge across association boundaries. This is done through regular meetings, section-wide events and by awarding project grants.
I want to have an impact
If you have something you want to improve on your programme or campus, contact your student council, section chair or faculty coordinator for help on how to proceed!
The Faculty Coordinator is an important aspect of the Union's purpose, and in short it is advocacy with the University to improve conditions for students. According to the Higher Education Act (Chapter 2, Section 7), students have the right to influence the university and they also have the right to be represented when decisions are made or prepared. The Faculty Coordinators are available to all students in the section and their task is to ensure that the quality of education in the section is high and that the University complies with the rules and guidelines in place.
For example, you can turn to the faculty coordinators for questions concerning student involvement and the quality of your education.
How do I contact you?
You can contact the Chair of the Social Sciences Section, Emil Buckard, at email@example.com
The faculty coordinators are located at the Uppsala Student Union office at Övre Slottsgatan 7.
